7 Teens & Bystander Injured in DC Shootings Since Sunday – NBC4 Washington

Seven teens and a man who was an innocent bystander have been injured in a string of shootings in Washington, D.C., over the past two days, police say.

Two teens were shot in the 900 block of Otis Place NW about 11:15 a.m., D.C. police said.

One of the victims, a 15-year-old boy, was hit in the arm and leg, a source familiar with the investigation told News4.

About a half-hour later, a suspect or suspects used a stolen black BMW sedan in a drive-by shooting on Columbia Road NW, police said. They crashed the car in an alley behind an apartment complex nearby after shooting a teenage boy and an innocent bystander, according to police.

“My officers who were here at 14th and Columbia heard rapid gunfire coming from right behind me in the 1300 block of Columbia Road,” Cmdr. James Boteler said.

Shell casings littered the street and police evidence markers showed at least 17 shots were fired.

Boteler said the boy was hit in the leg.

A few minutes later, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach a few blocks away at 16th and Columbia Road, where he drove after the shooting. He was inside a work van when the bullet hit him, police said.

On Sunday afternoon, a teenage boy was shot in the 2600 block of Birney Place SE. A second teenage boy was shot in the 1500 block of Massachusetts Avenue SE around 2:20 p.m. Then, about 4 p.m., two teen boys were shot in the 3400 block of Stanton Road SE at around 4:09 p.m.

All of the boys suffered injuries that are not life-threatening, according to authorities. Their exact ages and the circumstances of the gunfire were not provided.

The shootings are not believed to be related, D.C. police said.
